Nia was the first fusion-fitness programme in America. Created in 1983, and originally standing for Non Impact Aerobics, Nia was developed at a time when exercise was all about punishing your body to get fit. It was the first exercise programme that took each individual’s needs into consideration and allowed joy, not pain, to be the main motivator.
